Tarlós István

He completed his secondary school in Óbuda. Following this he graduated as a civil engineer at the College of Transportation and Telecommunication, and gained a second diploma as an economist and organizer at Miklós Ybl Polytechnical College. After graduation he worked in the building industry for 15 years.

He has been elected as the Mayor of Óbuda-Békásmegyer in 1990.


As an independent candidate supported by the civil parties he has been reelected in 1994, 1998 and 2002.


At the municipality elections in 2010 he has been elected as the Mayor of Budapest as a candidate of Fidesz and KDNP.
